Heart Simplified.

About this site

Heart Simplified exists for one moment: you've just been handed a heart report, and nobody explained what it says.

Who writes it

I'm Dr Kunal Ajay Patankar — MBBS, MD (Medicine), DrNB (Cardiology). I work as an interventional cardiologist in Mumbai, which means I spend my days doing angiographies and angioplasties, and a surprising amount of that time translating reports for the people holding them.

Why it exists

Most explanations Indian patients find online are either American — wrong drug names, wrong costs, wrong food — or thin marketing pages with no sources. Meanwhile the question in the room is always concrete: what does EF 45% mean? Is TMT positive serious? Is LDL 160 high? These deserve careful, cited answers in plain language. Simplified, not simplistic.

Editorial standards

  • Every clinical claim is cited. Each article lists its references — ESC, ACC/AHA, ASE or Indian guidelines — with links. If a claim can't be traced to a source you could check, it gets cut before publishing.
  • Real reports, de-identified. The report images in these articles are actual reports from practice with every identifying detail removed — never stock photos, never fabricated diagrams.
  • Named review, dated. Every article shows who reviewed it and when — both the first publication date and the last review date. When guidelines change, articles get updated and the dates move.
  • Corrections are welcome. If you find an error — especially if you're a clinician — write to drkunalpatankar@gmail.com. Verified corrections are made promptly and noted.

What this site will never do

It will never interpret your individual report — that is a consultation, and it belongs with your own doctor, who can see the whole picture. It will never sell supplements, run ads, recruit for trials, or promise outcomes. And it publishes nothing that hasn't been medically reviewed first.
